Hybrid Courses
Hybrid courses combine the best of both worlds — pre-recorded self-paced content that students can study independently, plus scheduled live sessions for interaction, Q&A, and hands-on practice.
When to Use Hybrid Courses
Hybrid courses are perfect when you want to:
- Deliver foundational content asynchronously and use live sessions for discussion
- Run a cohort-based program with structured deadlines
- Offer a premium experience that justifies higher pricing
- Provide personalized feedback during live sessions while scaling with recorded content
Creating a Hybrid Course
Step 1: Choose Hybrid Format
When creating a new course, select Hybrid. This unlocks both the curriculum builder (for self-paced content) and the session scheduler (for live classes).
Step 2: Design Your Curriculum
Structure your course to alternate between self-paced and live content:
Example: 8-Week Data Science Bootcamp
| Week | Self-Paced Content | Live Session |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Python Basics (videos + quizzes) | Intro & Q&A |
| 2 | Data Structures (videos + assignments) | Code Review Workshop |
| 3 | Pandas & NumPy (videos + practice) | Live Coding Session |
| 4 | Data Visualization (videos + project) | Project Review |
| 5 | Statistics Fundamentals (videos + quizzes) | Problem-Solving Session |
| 6 | Machine Learning Basics (videos) | Hands-On ML Workshop |
| 7 | Project Work (guidelines + resources) | Mentoring Session |
| 8 | Final Project Submission | Presentations & Graduation |
Step 3: Configure Drip Schedule
For cohort-based hybrid courses, use drip content to release modules on a weekly schedule:
- Go to Settings → Drip Content.
- Select Date-Based Drip.
- Set unlock dates for each module to align with your live session schedule.
Step 4: Set Up Live Sessions
Schedule live sessions between self-paced modules. Students are expected to complete the self-paced content before attending the related live session.
Managing a Hybrid Course
Student Progress Tracking
The dashboard shows a combined progress view:
- Percentage of self-paced content completed
- Live session attendance record
- Quiz and assignment scores
- Overall course completion status
Communication
Use the built-in notification system to:
- Remind students to complete self-paced content before the next live session
- Share session recordings and notes after live classes
- Send weekly progress summaries
- Notify about upcoming deadlines
Pricing Hybrid Courses
Hybrid courses typically command higher prices due to the live interaction component:
- Self-Paced Only: $49-199
- Hybrid: $199-999
- Premium Hybrid (small group): $499-2,999
Consider offering early-bird pricing or installment plans to improve conversion rates.
